At putting the world’s first ULO installation for bananas with Mr Borgers into operation in 1997 we conceived the plan to use the techniques used there for other situations. For in that particular situation nitrogen [N2] was extracted from fresh air on the spot. In our opinion we could also use this technique for mixing ethylene gas [C2H4] and nitrogen [N2] on behalf of the gas injection for banana ripening rooms.
